Four blogs in one day, What’s going on?
Well I wanted to give a little news but our Internet was not working yesterday.
So the Cisco course is over. The power went out on tuesday afternoon and didn’t come back ill late so nobody could study and nobody could do exams. So early Wednesday morning we started reading and took our Chapter 11 exam. Then the practise final exam, then the final exam then the skills test. The Skills Test involved setting up a little network with two routers connected back to back with serial DCE/DTE cables, configuring the routers and network addresses on the hosts, setting up access control lists and all that jazz. Luckily I didn’t need to use the Gateway Of Last Resort.
I finished my skills test at about 9pm, then went back to my house to rest. I came back to the lab at about 10, with chocolates for my colleagues who, I knew, had not eaten supper. I stayed for a while and left around 11. By 12.30 I was sitting at home catching up on the Guardian Weeklys that have gone unread since this whole thing started, and waiting for the others to bring me the keys to the lab. But I was fighting to keep my eyes open. I sent a SMS to my colleague suggesting that the teacher could take the keys back to the convent when they were through and I would just go to bed.
When they others finally left they came and knocked at my window to wake me and share their happiness at finally being certifiable… at 3am!
Certifiable but not certified. We each have to teach one class, as the primary instructor, for one term and attain reasonable results in order to receive our Cisco Certified Networking Instructor status. It’s been a hectic three weeks but also a lot of fun.

Yesterday I cleaned the house and tidied up the computer lab and visited Elizabeth and generally pottered around. Today, when I’ve finished this, I’m off to Nairobi to spend christmas day with Tereneh, an american student whom I met at a bus stop in Nairobi. Her own xmas plans have fallen through so we’re going to keep one anothe company and cook something for Xmas dinner.
Then on 26th Rena is coming and we’re off on Safari> until 31st.
See you all in the new year!
