Here I am in Rennes, Priscilla took this pic and emailed it to me from her mobile phone. I confess to still being a bit impressed by stuff like that.
The fountain is in a small square in Rennes, with one tree in a corner that gives shade over its one bench. The head looks as if it belonged to an older statue and got incorporated into this modern fountain: the water just trickles away over the edge of the plinth and it looks as if the head is floating. A peaceful place.
While we were there an old man arrived on a bicycle and stuck what looked like chewing gum on the end of his walking stick; delved in the fountain to withdraw two small coins that were on the bottom: approximately 75 euro cents. Enough, I should think, to buy another packet of gum.
