This Inktober I used a flexible Zebra G nib pen. This is a change for me. Last two years Inktober has been about using a Fude pen. Those pictures got more and more abstractly monotone, with large, carefully controlled areas of black. This year I have been trying to be more loose and deliberately scribbley, like my hero Heinrich Kley.
For me Inktober is an opportunity to practice observational drawing direct in ink. These drawings are all done from observation, all bar the rubbish raven are from life. Part of the challenge, then, if finding interesting things to draw or objects that suit the days theme. Below are some photos that record this challenge.
Some days there’s no choice. When you’re in front of Portland Bill Lighthouse that has to be the subject, even when the wind is blowing so hard its hard to make controlled lines.
