My sketches from the Rise and rebel march will be published in a book this summer. Urban Sketchers London have created the book, London by Urban Sketchers, as part of their ten-year anniversary celebrations. The idea is to show the capital one drawing at a time. I’m delighted they have chosen two of my protest reportage pictures to include in their book.
The call for submissions asked for:
Not only the most well known parts, but also landmarks, places, people, and cultural or political events that tell a story about London over the last 10 years.
Extinction rebellion arranged the protest for the day after COP26, same day as the Lord Mayor’s Show. The march followed the same route as the lord mayor, but in the opposite direction. We stopped in Fleet Street, outside the Daily Mail offices, and there ahead of us was the dome of St Paul’s.

Later, we gathered at Temple Bar before turning down to the river to block the final stage of the route.
